I am Omina Peters. A young entrepreneur and blogger from
blogspot.com/. I started my blog on the June 2008 and in approximately 11 months of starting my blog I am already
making $4000 online monthly. During this process I learnt a lot of things and one major lesson I learnt is that anybody can start making money online within the shortest period possible as long has he/she has the right plan and information on how to do it. I have decided to write a post that details my step to $4k online monthly and how you also can achieve it.
I can hardly believe that I’ve launched four blogs in the past three years.
The first blog I launched in June 2007 is now up for sale with a site broker and if their predictions are correct, I should be able to get a niche pay out due to the fact that I was able to generate consistent income and revenue from my blog for at least 18 months. Thanks to affiliate marketing, I was able to turn a blog that barely made $20/mo in Adsense revenues into a blog that generated $2500-$5000/mo from affiliate marketing. Oh, did I mention that it’s a beauty blog? There are thousands of easier niches … so I’m quite excited about my accomplishments.
When launching my current blog, I made sure to take all the lessons I had learned up to now and apply them in order to create a more successful blog in much less time.
Like so many new bloggers, when you launch your first blog, it’s quite difficult to know where to start and I surely made my share of mistakes along the way.
That said, I’ve made sure to document some of my best findings while launching this latest blog and I must say that the results are quite amazing.
I wanted to help other bloggers who are starting out by sharing what I feel has worked the best for me:
1. Get a great URL: After coming up with super creative names for my other blogs, I decided to use keyword research to find the name of my 4
th blog. When you chose a domain name that contains keywords people are actively looking for, it makes life a whole lot easier. I’ve learned that the hard way and made sure to integrate that in the latest blog I launched.
2. Chose a great theme: The first blogs I launched used a custom theme my former webmaster created. A number of experts commented on my blog and said my theme wasn’t the most SEO-friendly one and it was affecting my
Google rankings. For the fourth blog, I bypassed all that non-sense and picked the Thesis Theme — which is extremely SEO-friendly.
3. Create a strong brand presence: A strong brand presence is so important when launching your blog. With services like
Fiverr (where all outsourced services are a measly $5), it’s honestly so affordable to have a solid brand that really inspires trust among your readers.
4. Install some of the best plugins: There are some key plugins you want to install on your
Wordpress blog to make life easier for you. The list is long, but essential plugins include Gravatar, All-In-One-SEO,
CommentLuv, DoFollow, MaxBannerAds, TestimonialManager to name a few can really make a big difference to your online business.
5. Social media plugins: If you’ve not done so yet, you should really include the
Facebook “Like” button if you want your post to get some serious viralbility on one of the most coveted social platforms on the internet. The jury is out on Facebook’s effectiveness at generating real income. Some marketers say they are making a killing while others aren’t able to generate much income, but everyone agrees on the power of having a post go viral via the
Facebook “Like” button.
6. Get the MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate: Do yourself a favour and get the
MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate because it really will boost your blog income from the get-go. It’s true that you have to pay to obtain the
MaxBlogPress Ninja Affiliate, but it’s well worth the price … and as you increase the number of blog posts you write, the more it will really have an impact on your income potential.
7. Make sure you put your optin-box above the fold: This is as old can be when it comes to the basics of online marketing, but I constantly visit
blogs where you find the opt-in box in such a conspicuous way that it’s important to find it … if it’s hard to find … you won’t likely get too many visitors to your
blog free signing-up on your database. Properly building your database from day 1 is crucial to your success and make sure you place your opt-in box in a location that jumps out.
8. Make sure your copy is legible: I still cannot believe how many people select dark coloured backgrounds and hard to read font colours. The best combination remains black font against a white background. It might sound boring, but it works.
9. Create a useful “about us” page: After visiting hundreds if not thousands of other
blogs, I noticed that the best “about us” pages included more than a few lines of copy. I collected the best of the best to create the type of “about us” page that really provides visitors with an easy way to navigate across the
blog.
10. Start using YouTube more aggressively: I’m lucky enough to be part of
Brendon Burchard’s Expert Academy training and he’s really made it clear that video marketing is the way of the future. I’ve been doing videos for a while now, but I’ve not been as diligent as I should be. Base on
Brendon’s experience, I will be much more committed to producing videos that I can post on my YouTube channel and on my
Facebook fan page!
There are a few more things I’ve learned along the way of launching my
blog, but this list should surely help new
bloggers get the most important elements!
